|Dr. Babette Meister - Veterinarian|
Dr. Meister is the owner of Paradise Animal Hospital and graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, PEI in 2003. In 2005 Babette became a certified veterinary acupuncturist. Dr. Meister also has training in cruciate surgeries (knee surgeries) and ultrasound. Dr. Meister spent 3 years practicing in Saint John, New Brunswick and has been practicing in St. John’s, Newfoundland since 2006.
Dr. Meister is originally from Auburn, Nova Scotia and currently resides in St. John’s, with her husband Chad and her daughter Jovie. Dr, Meister also has three cats (Mojo, Sam and Lester) and ouzo the Greyhound. Dr. Meister can also be found hosting the TV show Save My Pet or Pet ER on the Animal Planet. Dr. Meister feels privileged and excited to be providing her services to the residents of Paradise and the surrounding Avalon region.
|Dr. Tracy Collins - Veterinarian|
Dr. Collins graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2009 and has been working at the Paradise Animal Hospital since 2010. Dr. Collins has a keen interest in surgery, is trained in cruciate surgeries (knee surgeries) and is currently training in fracture repairs.
In her spare time, Dr. Collins enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, and snowboarding. Dr. Collins also enjoys cooking, music and traveling. Dr. Collins currently resides in Mount Pearl with her fiancé , 2 dogs (greyhound and border collie mix) and 5 cats
|Dr. Melanie Mercer - Veterinarian|
Dr. Mercer was born and raised in Spaniard's Bay. Dr. Mercer graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2007 and worked in Southern Ontario for four years. Dr. Mercer returned home to Newfoundland and joined the Paradise Animal Hospital in 2011. Dr. Mercer now resides in Paradise with her husband Christian, their two cats (Savannah and Oliver) and their beloved beagle Karma. Dr. Mercer enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in preventative medicine and animal welfare. Dr. Mercer is currently training in canine rehabilitation.
Dr. Mercer enjoys visiting the dog park and running with her dog Karma, as well as travelling to Europe to explore her husband's home country of France.
|Dr. Jennifer Effendi - Veterinarian|
Dr. Effendi graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2012. She is originally from Toronto, Ontario and shortly after graduation she moved to St. John’s. Dr. Effendi enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in surgery, pain management and preventative care (particularly nutrition, dermatology and client education). During her veterinary education, she worked at veterinary clinics in both Toronto and Calgary. She also volunteered with “Global Vets” in East Africa working with both domestic and wild animals.
Dr. Effendi enjoys exploring all that St. John’s and Newfoundland has to offer. Dr. Effendi is so grateful to have found such a great practice to welcome her to Newfoundland.
|Dr. Gina Kelly - Veterinarian|
Dr. Gina Kelly obtained her veterinary degree from Ross University in 2006 and continued on to the Atlantic Veterinary College where she completed a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery. After completing her internship she worked for 5 years at a progressive small animal hospital in California. Dr. Kelly believes in a holistic approach to help cure and prevent disease and has had additional training in Veterinary Acupuncture at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Florida.
Gina grew up in Queens, New York and has had pets all her life. She treats her patients as if they were her own and she truly believes that every animal deserves the highest quality veterinary care and to be treated with compassion, patience and dignity. Gina moved to the St. John’s area in May 2013 and loves it, she is excited to explore the rest of Newfoundland with her son and husband.
